The United Nations official page for former Deputy Secretary-General Mark Malloch Brown states that he served as UNDP Administrator from July 1999 to August 2005 and as Chair of the United Nations Development Group; that he became Chef de Cabinet to the Secretary-General in January 2005; that his Deputy Secretary-General appointment was announced on 3 March 2006; and that he assumed the post on 1 April 2006 after Louise Fréchette and remained until the end of December 2006. The longer UN former-DSG bio lists The Economist, UNHCR, Sawyer-Miller, and World Bank vice-presidential titles with the date ranges used on the About page. The New York Post, 9 February 2005, reported that Annan’s new chief of staff was scheduled to meet Senators Norm Coleman and Carl Levin and Representatives Henry Hyde and Tom Lantos on oil-for-food investigations. That is reporting of meetings, not a finding that he committed a crime.
